The classical country house in miniature; a delightful doll’s-house mansion, modest in scale but confident in its symmetry. The architect is not known. Probably constructed in the mid eighteenth century, the house is a threebay cube, cream-harled with rusticated quoins and a slated pavilion roof; lower flat-roofed wings to the north and south were added in later. A markedly axial approach leads through corniced gatepiers capped by ball finials to a small forecourt from which a perron stair rises to a pilastered doorway – all this serving to emphasise the house’s bijou charm.
