Kilmacolm Civic Trust

 About the Civic Trust

Working to enhance and preserve the character and amenities of the villages.
Aims and Objectives
  • To stimulate public interest in and care for the beauty, history and character of the parish and its surrounding villages
  • To encourage the preservation, development and improvement of public amenities and places of historic interest
  • To encourage high standards of architecture and town planning in the area.

The Executive Committee convenes on a regular basis to:

  • Review development and planning applications
  • Review proposals for the development of public amenities
  • Develop initiatives to promote the heritage and history of the area
  • Review the management of the archives of the parish
  • Support and assist members with specific issues
  • Liaise with and/or lobby the Local Authorities where appropriate

The Trust considered 62 applications in 2014. Most were for alterations and extensions to existing houses. We objected to eight of the applications and submitted comments on others
An Annual General Meeting is held each year (usually March) where Membership of Executive Committee is renewed and the activities of the Trust are reported to the members.
